Book Club: Starling House by A. Harrow

Starling House is a 2023 Southern Gothic fantasy novel by Alix E. Harrow, blending fairy tale elements with modern horror, set in the fictional, unlucky town of Eden, Kentucky. The story follows Opal, a young woman who takes a job at the mysterious, haunted Starling House to help her brother, becoming entangled with the house's last heir, Arthur, and uncovering dark secrets about the town's past and the house's magical, monstrous nature. It's a story about finding home, confronting history, and fighting for the future, drawing comparisons to classics like Beauty and the Beast and gothic authors like Shirley Jackson.
